Day 1 – The Awards week kicks-off: Welcome to Paris!

The 19 finalists of the 2015 edition of the Awards all arrived in Paris today for an intensive program! After a long trip from their 16 respective countries, be it Uruguay, South Africa or Taiwan, we welcomed them enthusiastically. Having worked with them for several months, we feel like we know them already but this is actually the first time everyone meets in person!

The Awards Week started officially with a first workshop focused on communicating efficiently and “selling your ideas”.

After such an energizing start, finalists, coach and staff got together for a friendly welcome diner despite the jetlag!

Day 2 – Entrepreneurial workshops and pitch practice

This first full day is under the sign of hard work: multiple workshops and coaching sessions are scheduled for the finalists. These activities were designed to prepare them to the different events they will take part in during the rest of the week, and are delivered by professional coaches.

First of all, focus on the elevator pitch followed by some sessions on helping entrepreneurs take their ideas to market successfully using lean thinking and systematic methodologies.

Lunch was then dedicated to meeting with employees from Cartier’s headquarters.

The afternoon consisted in one-to-one time slots with the coaches to practice the pitch presentations in non-competing groups.

Such a packed day ended with a free evening in Paris for the finalists to enjoy the City of Light and relax. Only a day left before the oral presentations to the Jury!

Day 3 – Meeting with the press and off to Deauville!

Tuesday started with a fun session of media training held by our renowned Master of Ceremony and journalist, Henry Bonsu.

This came along at just the right time, as lunch-time was dedicated to a press conference today! Indeed, all 19 finalists got a chance to present their businesses to the journalists from around the world. Media visibility is part of the package offered by Cartier, an opportunity to highlight the creative and impactful aspects of their businesses.

With the Paris program over, we could now all head to Deauville, in the North coast of France, where the rest of the program will take place. On the Jury’s side, they all started arriving from their respective countries and made their way to Deauville.

See you there!

Day 4 – Oral presentations to the Jury and launch of the Women’s Forum

Today is the big day!

After what must have been a stressful night, each finalist pitched her business to her Jury panel for 30 minutes. This was followed by a high-stakes 20 minutes Q&A session which enabled Jury members to dig deeper into the projects and get the best out of the entrepreneurs!

The finalists’ hard work with their coaches finally paid off and they can now relax and enjoy the Women’s Forum which started at noon.

Between attending plenary sessions, networking breaks, and breakout conferences, the finalists still found time to present their activities once more, to the hundreds of participants of the Women’s Forum this time. Today, the session was under the theme of Inspired by nature.

Another night full of anxious expectation awaits the finalists, as tomorrow marks the day of the Awards Ceremony and the announcement of the competition results.

Day 6 – Feedback from the Jury and closing of the Women’s Forum

To finish the week and complete the experience, we set up some debriefing sessions for each entrepreneur with her regional Jury panel, in order for all of them to gather feedback on their oral presentations and advice on the future development of their business. A precious moment for the finalists who could then make the most out of the Jury’s expertise and dedication.

Before helping everyone head back to their own countries, we united all finalists, Jury members and staff one last time for a hearty lunch to seal new friendships and potential future partnerships, as well as give us time to wish well to each and every one of them!
